TWO METRO EAST LEADERS JOIN THE ST. JOHN’S COMMUNITY CARE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

New Officers Lead the Board  

St. John’s Community Care is pleased to announce two Metro East leaders have joined its Board of Directors: Kevin Weinacht of Glen Carbon and Melanie Davison of Collinsville. Weinacht is the president of Weinacht and Associates, and Davison is an administrator in the Hazelwood School District. Both are members of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Collinsville, which founded St. John’s Community Care in 1985 and continues to support it as a ministry.

Pam Waltermire, president of the St. John’s Community Care board, says Melanie and Kevin will make significant contributions to the organization.

“Melanie and Kevin are known for their integrity, leadership, and service,” Waltermire says. “We are thrilled to welcome them to the Board.”

Kevin has a personal connection to the St. John’s Community Care Adult Day Program – his brother, Bryan, participates in the day program. day. Bryan, who has a disability, is unable to work. He enjoys socialization and the activities in the Adult Day Program in Collinsville. The organization also provides an Adult Day Program in Edwardsville.

Kevin’s service includes organizing a series of successful fundraising auctions for St. John’s United Church. He is this year’s chair of the St. John’s Community Care Development Committee.

Melanie is the principal of Brown Elementary School in Hazelwood and has been an educator for 27 years. The National Association of School Superintendents honored Melanie with its Outstanding Administrator award, and she led her school to earning the distinction of being named a National School of Character. Her family has belonged to St. John’s United Church of Christ for generations. Melanie has two children, and her family is active in the community with sports, church, and volunteer activities. Her son, Ryan, is serving in the U.S. Navy.

The 2025 officers of the St. John’s Community Care Board include:

  • President: Pam Waltermire, Maryville, retired teacher, Granite City School District
  • Vice President: Kevin Weinacht, Glen Carbon, president, Weinacht & Associates
  • Treasurer: Debi Ralston, retired manager, IBM, Collinsville
  • Secretary: Melanie Whitworth, retired office manager, Petroff Trucking, Collinsville

Members at large include Melanie Davison, Diane Disbrow, Marilyn Doty, Beth Dittman, Matt Langley, Steven Renken, Laura Shipley, and Larry Wood. Michael Kudom-Agyemang is serving St. John’s Community Care as an Olin Board Fellow.

The mission of St. John’s Community Care is to make a positive difference in the lives of people challenged by aging or disabilities. We accomplish this by providing dependable and compassionate support through direct care, advocacy, education, and outreach to individuals and caregivers in the Metro East.
