Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group
The Alzheimer’s Support Group helps families know that they don’t have to go through this phase of life alone. At St. John’s Community Care, we understand the challenges that come with caring for a loved one with dementia or memory loss. That’s why we offer free support groups for family caregivers in our community. Even if you don’t provide full time care, this support group is for anyone who helps with tasks that allow a person to continue living in a home environment. This group is facilitated by experienced leaders who are specially trained in issues of dementia and aging.
The Alzheimer’s Support Group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 1:30pm-3:00pm, in a hybrid format. This means that you can attend in person at our Collinsville location (no registration required) or you can call in advance and get a Zoom link to join online from your own home.
Caregiver Support Group
This support groups is designed for any caregivers to attend, not just those supporting a person with dementia. Participants offer support and resources to each other, while creating an environment that welcomes sharing of struggles and ideas. This group meets via Zoom only, twice a month. They meet on the 2nd and last Wednesday of each month from 4pm-5pm.
Caregiver Coffee Talk
At St. John’s Community Care, we know that sometimes caregivers just need a break. We designed our Coffee Talk sessions to allow time to relax and rejuvenate with other caregivers who understand what you are going through. Staff help to guide conversation, but most of the group discussion is just based on the needs of the people attending. We buy your coffee and you can talk with others about caregiving, or not think about caregiving at all, if that is what you need!
We offer our Coffee Talk sessions at local coffee shops to make it feel less like one more “meeting” and more like you are out with friends who care about what you are going through. You can drop in with no registration required, but call the office or check our social media in case of cancellations.
Mondays are at Verona in Collinsville from 9am-10:30am.
Fridays are at Goshen Coffee Roasters in Edwardsville from 10am-11:00am.
