Socialization
Social activities foster a sense of community and belonging. We lead participants in group exercises, arts and crafts, games, and more, which help reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness. Guest musicians lead sing-a-longs and get everyone moving. We celebrate holidays and birthdays and enjoy life together. The structured routine helps improve mood, behavior, and overall quality of life.
Stimulation
We offer stimulating activities designed for people with dementia, memory loss, Alzheimer’s and/or physical challenges. Cognitive exercises, such as puzzles and memory games, help maintain mental sharpness, while physical activities promote mobility and overall health. Staff lead participants in hockey games with foam roll noodles, balloon volleyball, and walks in our courtyard. Art, music, and pet therapists engage participants in the joys of life.
Respite
Caregivers benefit from a much-needed break, knowing their loved ones are in a safe and nurturing environment. Our Collinsville and Edwardsville centers are open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You will have time to attend to your personal needs, work, or simply rest, reducing stress and burnout.
Professional Care
Our trained staff provides compassionate care and supervision, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all participants. This includes assistance with walking and toileting. Medications are managed by our onsite nurse.
Cost-Effectiveness

- Illinois Department on Aging Community Care Program

Nutritious Meals
Recognizing the importance of proper nutrition, St. John’s Community Care provides high-quality meals and snacks that meet the guidelines of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). We receive reimbursement from the CACFP for up to three meal/supplement services per day for each participant to offset the cost of our nutrition program. The requirements include, but are not limited to, the specific nutritional standards required for each meal/supplement that is served to each participant. As part of the CACFP, we are committed to reaching out to minority and/or grassroots organizations.
Transportation
The Collinsville Senior Shuttle and Madison County Transit provide transportation for participants as needed.
