We are lucky to live in the time of smart technologies and virtual social networks that engage and protect our physically and mentally challenged loved ones.  Aging in place is a trend that we will see a great deal more of with the aging Baby Boomers’ generation.  That trend will require tools.

There are a variety of programs including Home Services agencies, Adult Day Programs, community driving programs and Home Medical organizations that support the independent model of living.

Emotional wellness is just as important.   Isolation is hard on home-bound individuals especially in light of research that shows it leads to greater risks of dementia.  From the active social stand point, there is Facebook, Skypping, and Facetime.

In this issue, we’ll look at some of these helpmates and how they can be used.
